CL, the "early proceedings" aren't going to uncover much of the filth in the case. Local officials' money that they make on the side more often cross roads which means that if one investigates another s/he will compromise her/himself then too. Mr Bo, for example, has put his son through Harvard University and so has Mr Xi Jinping his daughter. Then, it seems that both of them have invested in a new Guangzhou primary sports/football school which is sponsored by the Real Madrid club. Should people believe that Mr Bo will be investigated thoroughly? What I am trying to say that this isn't about "early proceedings" but many proceedings that involve officials on mainland China.

Regarding the education and perhaps the recent Hong Kong frustration which you have brought up on the topic before, it is despicable how local officials deal with their people. On mainland, they resist any substantial changes to their own educational system, although they do not put their own kids through it. Obviously, the Chinese officials' opposition to changes, say for example in GAo Kao entry exams to the local unis, is well justified in their manipulation of people.

Peace to Neil Heywood's family
