Yes, I worked as a volunteer teacher in Western Kenya some years ago. I have read about your experiences working there too. Certainly it is a beautiful country with some truly amazing people. It's a shame that general poverty still persists for many Kenyans, there is also the problem of infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS with which it seemed almost every family in the area i worked had suffered a death from and the continuing problem of tribal and political violence. I was horrified when the news broke in 2007/2008 of the fighting and killing around Eldoret that cost the lives of nearly a thousand people and displaced hundreds of thousands of others some of whom were my friends, students and colleges.
