Don't forget that if you have garbage software like QQ and/or 360 Safety Software or any kind of Chinese Anti-Virus software you are susceptible to being hacked by Chinese hackers as there are holes in the software which can allow your computer to be hijacked. Your email or ebay account can be used to attack those servers as I learned from personal experience when I was in China. If some forum bans your IP or your google email account gets suspended for "security violations" and you don't even know basic computer programming then that is something to be worried about. All expats who live in china and run these types of chinese software need to be mindful of this.

You are quite right, QQ can cause you many problems; but the thing is, how on earth do you chat up your delicious university students without recourse to this modern bit of Chinese culture QQ- all the chatting up is done over QQ? Well, help is at hand, you must cage QQ in an environment where it can't do any harm; that environment is Linux of course, and you should use 'Wine QQ2012-20120531-Longene.deb, as opposed to QQ.exe, which of course will not work on Linux(well it will but it gets complicated) For the life of me in any event, I cannot understand why an FT would want to use a fake virus infected illegal Windows, when he can use a legal virus-free Linux. True, Linux is not good at playing games, but the only games an FT should want to play in China is chasing nubile student around your flat with a can of Devonshire Cream. Now, am I right or am I right?
