This is a lie. Z Visas must be obtained first, and are immediately replaced by 1 year Resident Permits as well as the working expat being issued a Foreign Experts Certificate which is the legal requirement to work as a teacher (falling under the "Wen Jiao" category of "Experts")in China.

INACCURATE, immediately can be up to 30 days from date of entry! 2ndly, some provinces will issue shorter-duration RPs, according to the duration of the employment contract, or distrust on their part. Also, you can be issued with a local college card in lieu of an FEC. Perfectly legal, and will be done for degree-less FTs!
