Certainly, Australia is a western country and cannot be considered to be inferior to other western countries if you are just speaking on a generalizing basis. I have not been there but I would like to go someday. I do know however that the massive immigration from some developing countries may have changed the cultural outlook in some cities, but maybe not so much. I love the slang.
