I know San Mig will read this, so my advice is to change the airline ticket date and go back to England if possible, then re-group. You can always return to China or some other Asian country at a later date. I understand the feeling about having no friends or contacts back home, the same thing has happened to me.

San Mig should stick with it and not leave China until they bundle him on an aeroplane- He will find a way- he will find help. He will learn from this I am sure.
