: Well said! If in China they would apply the same standards like in the
: US, more decent foreign folks would teach in China and deliver real
: quality education. It is interesting what you say regarding for
: government-issued teacher licenses people are required to have a
: clean criminal record - a very good system, because teachers need not
: only have appropriate academic qualifications - they should also have
: a mature, decent personality. A clean criminal record would be at
: least of several indicators that they are.

: Well, if ever one day they would adopt the same/similar standards in
: China, they would also have to increase the salaries for those they
: employ. Who would want to work for a crappy salary of some 6000- 7000
: RMB if the Chinese could also pay between 15,000 - 20,000 RMB a
: month? I know they can, money is no real problem these days.

Thats funny, because the resume section of this very site is always full of people desperate to get a job, some to get ANY job in China. Some would work for what you call a crappy salary than return to the west with nothing. BTW, you can't even get welfare or look for a job for 3 MONTHS on your return to the UK, so [edited]. You are wealthy and retired, and giving younger teachers rubbish advice!!! A 6000 rmb job can be a stepping stone, foot in the door. Take down your hubris man!!!!!!!!!!!

:

When there are more real teachers in the employment pool, schools
: and training centers will be able to increase their basic hiring
: requirements. Another nice thing about real teachers with government
: issued teaching licenses is that employers know they are getting
: people without criminal records (at least in the United States you
: cannot get a teaching license if you are a convicted felon).
