Are Chinese universities sub-standard compared to the rest of the world? If so, how and why?

That's why many Chinese universities are rated lowly on the world stage. What's more, Chinese students attending joke universities in China tend to have entitlement mentalities - they expect to graduate regardless of poor academic performance. However, some go abroad to study, but if they can't pass their exams they'll be sent down. That is as it should be.
