I think you are correct about that. I was thinking about that yesterday after I replied. You can marry in China but then you may not work on a spousal visa. I was working with a few foreigners who had married and they were working with Z Visas. Of course they as well were well below retirement age, so easy for them to get a Z and renew it when needed.
