Already they are talking about settling down and moving to the U.S.A. The kid is a fresh graduate and a litte too trusting of the girl and her family. The money was to help the girl get a visitor's visa to see his parents. It is just that the girls mother took the money without asking him first. That is what makes me dread for him.

Can't really see why you are worrying your head over it. If he's making an error of judgment then his stupidity needs to be corrected by a trial in life.
