I just talked to a friend of mine who wants me to come to Turkey and teach ESL in a place called Mersin. I've been to Istanbul before, but not anywhere else.

Can you tell me about any other cities in Turkey, such as Ankara, Izmir, or this city Mersin?

He tells me I can go to Turkey on a tourist visa, find a job, then get all the proper permits after a month or two. What is your opinion of this?

When I went to Turkey in 2001, the tourist visa for a US citizen was 45 USD and was good for 90 days. This WOULD give me time to look around at schools and cities. Is it worth it to come over?
