In response to Praise of the British (Fanus Britannicus)

Haha, we don't actually love ourselves that much.

Our football teams are relatively mediocre, as proven in Brazil by the only qualifying home nation recently. As for club sides, it is the Spanish that have dominated in the Champions league this season, contributing both finalists.

Aussies have a very good claim to being able to do fish & chips and pies better than the Brits these days; although those Aussies have never tried my home-made steak and ale pies made with Black Sheep Ale. I should start making pies again, but I can't be arsed to make to my own pastry most of the time.

If Britain wants a culinary claim to fame, I'd say that its hot desserts are far more worthy of praise. They are comfort food at its best.

Our tea is in fact amazing, although it is actually grown in India, Kenya etc... At least we do know how to create nice blends though. Would still choose pure Assam when it comes to black teas though.
