In response to Re It's a topsy-turvy old esl world. (Pimmel)

Ja, you are dead on there. We must be careful, or there may be no-one left at all to teach in China. I would go so far as to say that even those park bench sleeping blokes would make great teachers, lots of hardships and life experience, and many tales with which to regale their students. In fact, I'd say that newly degree hipster 20 somethings should be considered last before older, degreeless, homeless, blokes from the West. They should come first in my opinion, why one may well ask? They simply know how to teach the chinese kids and make them laugh, and that is half of the battle, if you can make them laugh, you can hold their interest....they are not interested in 23 year old Lee from Lewes with a degree in history, boring them to tears, what they really want is Mr Bean and a right good laugh,.....they got snowed under with homework from their chinese teachers, the FT's class is a chance for them to relax, so to speak.

Good post. Yes, Ivan from Moscow should be given his marching orders, that's for sure.

I am becoming of the opinion that all rubbish recruiters and pretend training centres should be removed. But of course this is up to the Chinese. Also I would like to stop the use of terms like 'foreign experts' or 'foreign teachers' being used to trick parents into thinking that they will be getting Sid from Sidcup to teach little Lotus Blossom; when in reality they could well get Cassius from Kenya.

You're right, could well be wasted talent hanging about the park. They too could become degreeless heroes. However, I favour degree-holding Natural English Speakers to get the top jobs.
