I'm an American (New York State) and Canadian (Ontario) certified teacher with over 13 years of teaching experience - 10 of those years spent teaching ESL, curriculum planning, and coordinating summer and winter camps in Seoul, Korea. I currently teach in the Toronto area. I'm giving notice to an ESL Summer Camp that I am organizing and running in Orillia, a beautiful lakefront community about an hour North of Toronto. There are two 3-week sessions being offered this summer (July 5-25 and August 2-22). The concept is to give ESL students a fresh break from rote learning (memorization and repetition) and provide them a chance to learn English through experiential education. Through a mix of in-class instruction, coordinated activities, tours, day trips, outdoor expeditions to various fun-filled sites, and living with a local homestay family, ESL students will have a wonderful opportunity to experience Canada and its culture. This authentic and meaningful learning will do wonders for their English, especially their speaking skills.
