Attractions of Bikaner

In the north-west part of the colorful Indian state of Rajasthan, the gem city of Bikaner enlighten the whole state with its delighting tourist spots. This fascinating city was founded by Rao Bikaji and Jats, which later developed as the capital of Bikaji and so the name of the city is after the name of Bikaji. It is the fourth largest city of the state. Amidst at the middle of Thar desert, bounded with huge walls the city has several forts and palaces, that witness its victorious past. Bikaner is also famous throughout the country for its delicious sweets and namkeens (snacks), specially Bikaneri Bhujia. Even Bikaneri food chains are successfully captured the Indian market. Also Bikaner is renowned for its most colorful festivals. The topmost attractions of Bikaner are:

Junagarh Fort: The impressive fort of Junagarh was built by the 6th ruler of Bikaner - Raja Rai Singh. This is one of the oldest forts of the state, that exhibits the history of royal Bikaner family. The museum inside the fort displays different weapons, ornaments of that era.

Laxmi Niwas Palace: This palace is the one of the most visited spots of Bikaner, which was the residential palace of Maharaja Ganga Singh. It was designed by British architect Sir Samuel Jacob. It is a fusion of Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, which now is converted into a luxury hotel.

Lalgarh Palace: The palace is a rich blend of Rajput, Mughal and European style of architecture, which was designed by Sir Samuel Jacob. The impressive palace is coated with red sandstone, having several halls, lounges, pavilions and cupolas. The interior of the palace is enriched with fascinating pillars, Italian colonnades and excellent lattice-work.

Laxmi Nath Temple: This is one of the oldest temples of Bikaner, which is the center of devotion. Many devotees come here to come true their wishes.

Shiv Bari Temple: This beautiful temple is built of red sand stone, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The four faced black marble statue of Lord Shiva and bronze statue of Nandi are quite eye-catching. In the month of Sawan (August), the temple remains full of thousands of devotees and visitors.

Bhandasar Jain Temple: Bhandasar Jain Temple is the most beautiful as well as the highest temple of the city, dedicated to 5th Jain theerthankar Sumatinath. From the topmost floor of the temple you may enjoy the skyline view of Bikaner. The temple has adorable wall paintings and usta arts.

Festivals: Each festival in Bikaner is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. Camel festival, Gangaur festival and Kolayat festival are some most colorful festivals of Bikaner.
