Travel in India

A luxurious trip to India
By:Travel Expert

India is a land of heat, beggars, and poverty, but it is also a world filled with many options for luxury travel. Those who visit India can opt to go on an India luxury tour and experience the softer side of life in India. Luxury travel is an excellent way for anyone, but especially for women to travel safely in India.

Stay in Indian Palaces While on Luxury Tours
Staying in a palace in India is a great thing to do if luxury travel is your thing. Palaces in India are authentic. Indian royalty still reside in the palaces; just a portion of the palaces have been converted into hotels so that those who enjoy luxury travel can get a taste for what it's like to live like a king or queen for a day or two.

Staying in a palace in India is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of life in India. Being treated like royalty is a perfect way to start and end each day and some of the finest meals in India are served in palaces. Palace hotels in India are also a great place to shop without having to haggle and the goods found in palace shops are often of better quality than similar items found elsewhere. While it is true that prices are often higher in the palace, for those with a luxury tour budget, higher quality and fewer hassles are one of the advantages of shopping in palace gift shops.

Luxury Train Travel in India
People in India, both rich and poor, travel by train. Indian trains can be crowded and dirty, but many luxury train travel options are available in India. Some of the more popular ones include:

Palace on Wheels. As the name implies, the Palace on Wheels is a train fit for royalty. The eight day tour starts and ends in Delhi and stops off at Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, S. Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Bharatpur and Agra. Depending on the season and accommodations, prices run from $260 to $560 per day per person, with half-price rates available for children.

Royal Rajasthan on Wheels is also an eight-day journey that starts and ends in Delhi and covers most of the same cities as the Palace on Wheels. Prices range from $800 - $3200 per night and include three meals a day, sightseeing, and other miscellaneous fees.
Heritage on Wheels is a great option for those who want a shorter journey than what is offered by the Palace on Wheels and Royal Rajasthan on Wheels. Four days in duration, the Heritage on Wheels adventure begins and ends in Jaipur with stops in Bikaner and Shekhawati. The price for Heritage on Wheels is between $150 and $900 per night per person and covers meals, sightseeing and entrance into museums. Children between the ages of five and 12 are half price.

For those who have the means to do so, luxury travel to India is the way to go. With a variety of travel packages and cities to visit, there are many options available for those who want a little glimpse into the life of Indian royalty.
