Shimla and Manali: Best Suited for Summer Holidays
By:Swati Singh

The best way to retreat from the Indian summer is to get to a hill station. Every year many families evade the scorching heat of the northern plane of India by spending their summer holidays in these hill stations. The two most famous hill stations of the northern part of India are Shimla and Manali. Both are located in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Manali is also called the Switzerland of India. Himachal Pradesh, being at the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, is blessed with natural beauty. There are many Manali tour packages available to choose for the vacations.

These two hill stations have everything that a perfect hill station should have. The calmness of the surroundings, snowflakes, the cool breeze, traditional pahari culture and hospitality are some of its main features. The sky turns light purple in the evening which makes these two ideal honeymoon destinations. In fact, many newly wed couples take Shimla and Manali Tours for their honeymoon vacations. Himachal Pradesh has several other hill stations and cities located in the valleys. Shimla and Manali together with Kullu are the most visited cities of the state. Both domestic and foreign tourists visit these hill stations in thousands.

These three cities, like all the rest of Himachal, have amazing natural beauty. The cool climate, refreshing air and the luscious greenery of the forests is an experience of another world. Shimla, also known as the Queen of Hill Stations, is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Here you will see many buildings with the architectural design from the colonial times, temples and beautiful views of the surrounding hills. The Ridge road and the Mall road are the two well known tourist hotspots in Shimla. Kullu is more famous for trekking as it has many trekking trails in the mountain. Trekkers and hikers from everywhere come to Kullu to enjoy trekking in the mountains. Mostly, people plan their trip to travel to both Kullu and Manali on the same vacation period because the distance between them is roughly within 40 kms.

Adventure holidays are also become quite popular in these regions. White-water rafting and fishing in Kullu are very famous among tourists who visit Kullu. Paragliding, Trekking, Skiing, Camping and mountain climbing are some of the adventurous activities that are available in the region.
