Attractions Worth Seeing in Bhophal

Bhopal is a beautiful middle sized city located in the heart of India. It is popularly known as the "city of lakes." The city has a favorable climate during the months of October to March. It is reachable through Indian Airlines plus many others.

Some of the places worth visiting in Bhophal are the two lakes namely Bada Talaab and chota talaab, Bhimbetka Caves, Van Vihar National Park, and Arat Bhavan.

The 2 beautiful lakes are the center of attraction here. These have greatly produced an impact towards beautifying the landscape of the city.

The Bada Talaab is the upper lake. It is 6 square kilometers long and has a beautiful body of water. It was created during the reign of King Bhoj. It is believed that its water healed the skin disease of the king.

Today you will find here some boating facilities for rent. There are also sailing exciting trips. Motor and paddle boats are as well available. Hence, one can have the pleasure of boating apart from enjoying the splendid beauty of the lake.

On the other hand, the chota talaab which is the lower lake was created during the time of the Mughal Empire. In this place, one can find a bridge over it that divides the lake from the upper lake.

The Bhimbetka Caves are famous in preserving prehistoric murals and paintings believed to be almost 12,000 years old. This world heritage site is situated 46 kilometers south of Bhopal.

Here, one can see the lives and everyday activities of primitive cave dwellers depicted artistically in the paintings. The narrative skills of primitive inhabitants are also apparent through these works of art. There are more than 200 caves that can be found as well which form as a part of this cave sanctuary.

Moreover, there are also five clusters of caves that can be found down of Bhimbetka called Bhimbetka rock shelters. These were formerly used as shelters for many years by the early settlers of the place. The caves have walls decorated with artistic works that date back from the Mesolithic Period.

These cave paintings are accessible by means of a bus or a car. It is advisable to hire a tour guide when going inside. A guide will cost you Rs 150.

And the Van Vihar National Park is the biggest animal conservation area in the heart of a city. It has an area of 445.21 hectares. It is located at the upper lake in the city.

The Central Zoo Authority of India recognized the park as largest zoo at same time as a national park on January 18, 1983. Here, you can have wonderful learning experiences about the zoo. The thrills and excitements of jungle are also visualized in this park.

There are also bears, leopards and tigers that are seen and can b caught in the park. Different kinds of water animals and birds are as well seen as you drive around the area.

Lastly, the arat Bhavan is one of the best and famous cultural centers found in India. Charles Correaan architect from the country designed this modern center. It showcases magnificent tribal and contemporary art exhibitions.

In the center, one can find an art gallery, museum of arts and a workshop for fine arts. You can even see a repertory theater, rehearsal room, and libraries of Indian poetry, classical and folk music, and indoor and outdoor auditorium.
