The Jantar Mantar is an observatory comprising fourteen major geometric devices for measuring time, predicting eclipses, and tracking other astral events.

The magnificent hilltop Amber Fort is located 11 kms north of Jaipur. Founded by Raja Man Singh, the fort got its finishing touches by his descendants Jai Singh I and Sawai Jai Singh II. Raja Man Singh was a legendary general in the army of the Emperor Akbar. His Hindu lineage and ties with the Mughal shaped the distinctive Hindu and Muslim blend of the architecture of the fort.

Apart from the Central museum, Jaipur has several forts, gardens and temples in and around the city premises. However, we recommend you one thing especially even if you are not fond of shopping. Check out the Bagdu prints and the Bandhni textiles - they are a treat to the eyes!
