International ESL Jobs
We need someone for a primary school teaching K-6th graders (you will be assigned only one K class) for June 2015:
- Class size 30 (if you arrive earlier than May 31st, some of our staff members and myself can help you out with ideas for classroom management and classroom activities in these settings)
- Assistant local teachers will be available to you; my preference is to insist that they stay on the periphery until I need some monitoring work done or their is a discipline problem;
- English World 1-7 is our main curriculum; we will have pre-made tests the students are supposed to take every 2 months (not K classes); if you have special activities or special curriculum you would like devise, we encourage creative teachers; but book series provides a clean step-by-step that a lot of teachers like to have;
- Fans but not always air-conditioners (luckily you are just missing the hottest 5 days of the year which happened this week); it is a developing country and working conditions are not always ideal but fairly on par with other SE Asian countries from my experience
You may also be needed for 1-2 classes in our teaching center; I personally try really hard to keep everyone's teaching hours to 22-25 a week with 2 days off regularly; although we have monthly events where we try to get 2-3 teachers to assist running (everyone takes a turn), which is why the contract will stipulate that you may be asked to work a 6 day week, or need the occasional Oral Placement Test or Demo which is why we have 27 hours a week as our maximum .
The initial offer will be $1200 a month for the first 3 months, with a pay bump to $1400 from the 4th month on. Flight reimbursement will be staggered out over a period of time (some people back out at the last minute or are just looking for a free flight to Asia).
