Location: Gran Canaria (Las Palmas)

Role overview:
As an Academic Coordinator, you will join Language Campus´ teaching and academic management team in one of our schools in the Canary Islands. You will guide and teach according to the CEFR standards as well as plan lessons, design and deliver trainings and workshops. You will be required to provide on-the-spot guidance on academic matters to teachers, admin staff and students.
Who will you be reporting to?
As an Academic Coordinator, you will be reporting to the Language Campus Management Team based in Language Campus Headquarters.
Key responsibilities:
• Overseeing the appropriate implementation of Language Campus Methodology
• Overseeing course / unit / lesson planning procedures
• Overseeing placement of students in appropriate level
• Assisting teaching staff in planning their courses and providing guidance/ training when necessary
• Providing tutorial services for students, by appointment, on occasions when they have missed their classes or need additional explanation
• Providing confidential assistance and advice to students and/or staff regarding academy related issues
• Carrying out all duties required of a Language Campus Teacher as outlined in the Language Campus Teacher´s Manual
• Promoting and facilitating a task-based approach to teaching and learning
• Promoting and facilitating an academy-wide fostering of learner autonomy
• Ensuring that fellow teachers are provided with necessary guidance and materials to carry out aforementioned duties including giving them an induction, taking part in their ongoing development, training and on-the-job coaching
• Observing lessons according to previously agreed criteria and providing constructive feedback
• Developing and writing evaluation materials
• Practising reflection and self-evaluation as the norm and basing future planning on such reflection
• Proactively suggesting and implementing options appropriate to address academic improvement
• Liaising between academic staff and Language Campus Management Team to guarantee timely and efficient implementation of changes to existing processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
• A genuine interest in teaching, education and self-development
• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Education, from a recognized university and TESL certification.
• Extensive knowledge of second language acquisition, techniques for teaching English, ability to design appropriate assessments for program placement and materials for the monitoring of student achievement.
• Native or near-native proficiency in all the skills of understanding, speaking, reading and writing in English
• Minimum 4000 hours of teaching experience
• DELTA qualification preferred
• Teacher training experience preferred
• Management experience preferred
