Major Attractions in Tokyo

The Tokyo Metropolis is a melting pot of high street Asian fashion and culture. Bizarre or elegant, Tokyoites never fail to surprise the world with innovation in fashion and design. People of various subcultures can been seen walking around while sporting their style and expressing themselves with no fear of being judged.

Upon shopping in Tokyo, make sure to visit the following places so you can snag the hottest Asian apparel.

Shibuya

Shibuya is coined as the shopping capital in Tokyo. From the boutiques up to the teenagers walking about, Shibuya is chic personified. For men and women alike, it is definitely a spot worth visiting.

Some of its renowned shopping centers are the Shibuya 109 Building or Ichimarukyu Building, the main branch of Tokyo Department Store and the 0101 Marui.

Aside from shopping, food establishments are also famous for both citizens and tourists

In pop culture, Shibuya is the setting of the 1999 anime, Gals!, where the life of the protagonist revolves around fashion and the life of a High School Tokyoite.

Harajuku

Harajuku holds its title for being the center of extreme fashion among teenagers. It is located north of Shibuya, one station away in the Yamanote line. On a Sunday, as you get off the train, teenagers gather around the station sporting Cosplay fashion.

Cosplay fashion is wearing outfits to resemble cute anime chic, sci-fi inspired characters, punk-rock ensemble, or just getting wild! With this, they have been considered in Tokyo subculture as Harajuku fashion.

Aside from this, the most famous places to shop are Daiso Harajuku - 100-yen shop, where goods are offered at only 100 yen, Oriental Bazaar, a souvenir shop to spot kimonos, dolls, furniture and other local goods, and malls like Omotesando Hills and LaForet Harajuku.
