OeDae Language Institute was established in August 1997 in the heart of downtown in Seoul. OeDae (Pronounced "Way-Day") takes its name from the abbreviation of the Korean for Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. The university is famous for language instruction, preparing Koreans for careers in the foreign ministry, simultaneous translation, or international trade. We are a private company granted a franchise license.

The school is located in Chongno Gu, (a.k.a Jongro-Ku) the central business district of Seoul, since it's founding as the capital of the Joseon Dynasty. Chongno, the main street, has been teaming with shoppers and merchants for more than 600 years. Though lined with high rises today, there are still many palaces, temples, shrines, and parks within easy walking distance. Insadong, a historic district with small winding streets filled with art galleries and traditional tea houses can be seen from OeDae's windows. The American, Canadian, and British embassies are also close at hand. And, if you need a bite to eat between classes, there's a wide variety of restaurants to choose from: Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, and common American chains such as Burger King, McDonald's, Bennigan's, and TGIFriday's.
