Mexico - Mexico City
School:Greengates School

Greengates School, founded in 1951, is a private coeducational day school on a purpose built campus in the north-western part of Mexico City. A British International school with approximately 1150 students aged 3 to 19, Greengates caters primarily to the diplomatic and multinational business community in Mexico.

Some 50 different nationalities are represented in the student body, making cultural diversity a fundamental part of the “Greengates experience”; awareness and critical appreciation of this diversity are fostered in all aspects of school life: cultural events, such as the International Fair, educational trips and sports tours, and the academic curriculum. No student leaves Greengates with a simplistic view of the world.

Greengates is a welcoming school. While there is always a core of long-term locally based students, annual turnover averages 20%, so in any given year about one student in five is new to the school, and usually new to the country, and most of the “old hands" have recent memories of their own experiences as new arrivals and go out of their way to welcome newcomers.

Academically, Greengates aims to combine breadth and depth. While the curriculum is based on the British system, Greengates accepts children from a wide variety of educational backgrounds, and successfully prepares its pupils for further studies anywhere in the world. Greengates has earned an international reputation for academic excellence, a reputation annually confirmed by high performance in external examinations such as the International Baccalaureate Diploma, I.G.C.S.E. and U.S. SAT tests.
