Oxford International School was established in 1987 in response to the growing need to provide both the international and local communities with a global education at par with Panama's growing importance as an international center.

The School is a private, non-sectarian, politically neutral, day school committed to developing each students full learning potential, through the use of modern teaching methods. The School offers a global education with an international emphasis. Each students is stimulated to acquire a world view academically, socially, culturally and ethically. Through positive reinforcement, the staff recognizes and rewards students efforts, fostering their development as it allows them to explore new areas, thereby promoting a sense of satisfaction and enthusiasm about learning.

Each student is treated as an individual within the context of his academic, cultural and personal background. Parents participate actively in the instruction of their children, and while doing so allow them to benefit academically and socially.

The academic program is designed to develop each student's full learning potential. A strong elementary and secondary multicultural program conducted in English is integrated with the host country's (Panama) curriculum. Specialist teachers provide classes in art, physical education, computer science and foreign languages. The School utilizes international resources available through the community to broaden and enrich its program.
