I got my 'spousal' RP from the visa office in Hohhot Friday last. It's in the form of a sticker occupying one of the previously unused visa pages of my passport. I still think it's a bit of a liberty that I was forced to do a full medical to get the RP, given that were I to have failed the medical, I would still have got the RP!
Maybe I did fail it - I don't know as I chose not to view my medical report, the original of which the local PSB accepted (they would have accepted photocopies of each of its pages instead, btw), despite having previously taken my receipt for my full medical from me!
The visa clerkess was sour-faced that morning, same as before. On leaving, I thanked her profusely and said goodbye - I wasn't in the least surprised when there was no oral response at all!
