I think it's clear that if you want to be a decent person yourself you should not associate with the other people not holding to the same standards as yourself. Being guilty by wrong association can fall back on you and get you into trouble.

There are in fact Western low-lives that deserve to be taken to the cleaners, not only by Chinese immigration but also by other parts of Chinese law enforcement. [edited]

I have been a person with a strong and militant stand against all kinds of crooks and abuse in Chinese ESL. Knowing clearly that it's not only the Chinese side that is involved in it but that there is also a Western part involved in the that big show of scam, I will not close my right-hand eye to see only what's on the left side of it. You need to look at the whole picture and not only a part of it! Maybe, other people do. I do not, I stand by what I have said and done. I stand by principles that I will not compromise on under any circumstances whatsoever.

Unlike you, I do not wish to see any expat being taken to the cleaners by the Chinese immigration authorities.
