They've been trying to get me into serious trouble, but it won't work.

In fact, it hasn't, LOL! This morning, they had long faces when I entered the visa hall. I had the receipt from the med centre for 320 RMB. I'd have thought that would be that re that aspect of my application, but I was wrong. God knows why they also need my med form. I'm retired and they said I wouldn't have to leave China even if I were seriously ill or HIV positive because I have a Chinese relative, namely my wife. There's also a privacy issue with this. Why should THEY get to view my med results? None of their goddam business. It's clear they distrust my med receipt to some extent. They kept it, but I can use my passport to get the results! I think when I return with my detailed results, I'll let them view the cover and contents from afar so that they can't read what it says. I don't want to know what it says, so I intend to trash it as soon as they've agreed to accept that I took the med.

Now to the accommodation form. You see, I've recently moved permanently to an apartment that I had previously bought. I produced the new accommodation form stamped by the local police.

They asked me why there was no house book. I told them coz the house is fairly new, so it's not been composed yet. Then they asked me why I hadn't brought the contract. I said that would be difficult as the bank had it - they are obsessed with viewing originals with the relevant photocopies. I let my wife speak to them. It turns out that in this case, the photocopy will do. So, why don't they ask for that in the first place instead of for the original? I lost my rag at this point as they were obviously un co-operative, and they had asked me earlier to complete a new application form, and transfer the photo, which needed verification AGAIN from the photographer that it was in date - he attaches a bar-coded sticker to the form. That annoyed me!

At last, I got webcamed, great, which meant that my 3 days' overstay was cancelled out. No need to worry about an overstay fine + deportation, though that would be applied if it took me 5 days or more to get all my paperwork in order, I've no doubt. Now they just need the house contract photocopy + my med results! I have to submit same within 7 days, and will get my 1 year RP approx 7 days' later.

I'm going to complain to Beijing about this med crap. It's not on!
