Lessons & Classroom Games for Teachers
English is a core subject in the American school system. Students are typically required to take English classes up until they graduate from high school. There are plenty of English lesson-plan ideas for teachers to introduce to their students.
Daily Oral Language
Daily Oral Language is an exercise that tests a student's ability to catch spelling and grammatical mistakes in sentences. In this lesson, teachers give students a sample sentence that has mistakes. Students then take a few minutes correcting these mistakes.
Vocabulary
Spelling tests help students memorize correct spelling of words and acquire a broader vocabulary. At the beginning of each week, teachers can provide a list of words with definitions. By the end of the week, students are responsible for knowing these words and are given a written test to determine their progress.
Daily Journal
A daily journal is a beneficial exercise because it gets students into the habit of expressing themselves in written language. Teachers can simply ask students to talk about their day, answer a specific question or write a creative story.
