Attitude Drives Happiness
By:Pete Casanova

Attitude Is Everything

Not an original thought but the importance is such that it cannot be repeated often enough. Your attitude drives everything you do. It is your connection with good health. It drives your socioeconomic status. It determines the kind of friends you have. It even reflects back the image others have of you.

Attitude is determined and can be changed by adjustments to our belief system. An example would be how you react to a homeless person. If the belief is that the homeless are a worthless lot than you will not show body signals when meeting this person. I mean there will be no smile and you will most likely cross your arms displaying body language which tells this person you don't like him. Or, you may have the belief that homeless people are evolving and their condition is only temporary.

In presenting examples I use blatant demonstrations. Most situations in life are far more subtle. Consider the possibility that the same home person you meet somehow gets into the corporate world and you meet him years later. He will remember your attitude.

Attitude has a metaphysical element to it that cannot be ignored. It somehow programs your mind such that your senses are tuned in to opportunities. If you have the belief that good health generally follows you then you have 'hunches' come to you telling you that a certain supplement will be good for you.

From all of this it follows that your entire environment is a creation of your attitude. The car you drive, the house you live in and the person you are married to are all your own doing. Now this may lead one to ask the question, "How did I do this to myself?" But, a more productive question would be, "Why did I do this to myself?" The why in this case is vastly more important than the how. You see, our believes are, at least in part, driven by experiences which may have happened so long ago that we do not remember them.

If you were to drastically change your belief system and thus your attitude you would find that your old friends would just naturally drift away from you. In a short time you would have a whole new set of friends. Friends always support your belief system.

This article is not meant to be preachy. It is meant to make you think about your own happiness level. If you feel like you could be happier than change your beliefs. Change your attitude. No matter how good life is for you it can always be improved in terms of your happiness level. Perhaps before you change your attitude you can write a list of things you are thankful for. Then after you have changed, wait a few weeks, and do it again. Live, Laugh and Love.
