Changing Core Beliefs In 3 Simple Steps
By:Michael Lee

Changing core beliefs doesn't happen overnight. Though change is inevitable, there are some things that you just can't change right away, especially those you've grown up with.

If all your life you have known something to be a fact, and as you grow up you notice that it is changing, dilemmas are bound to follow. What should you believe? Which is real? What should you follow?

If you are reading this, you are probably one of the many people who find changing core beliefs difficult. Here are 3 simple steps that can make the process easier.

Step 1: Know Yourself.

The first step in changing core beliefs is to know what they are. What are your principles? Do you have a stand on certain issues? Which side are you really on?

Part of knowing yourself is identifying the problem with these beliefs. What are your doubts about them? Why do they affect you? Are your beliefs examined ideas, or just some facts that you accepted without question?

If your beliefs have no strong foundation, doubts will most likely overcome them - these are what you should focus on.

Step 2: Change Your Point Of View.

This is a critical step in changing core beliefs. Shifting your point of view to one that is free of judgment or biases will help you widen your horizon and see things in a different light.

Don't be afraid to question and consider other people's opinions, as these can also help you figure out your own outlook and beliefs.

Step 3: Take Action.

It's not enough that you know what beliefs you have to change. You have to go ahead and actually change them.

Remember that you are in control of the situation. You are in control of your life. Your beliefs play a major role in the condition you are in now.

If you are unhappy or discontented, make a conscious decision to stay away from thoughts that make you feel guilty, frustrated or angry. It may not be easy at first and you can't really change everything all at the same time, so start with the small things and work your way up steadily.

The process of changing core beliefs is different for every single person. Not everyone quickly adapts to changes or growth. Though it may be a struggle at first, the more you practice it, the easier it will get and the faster you will achieve your desired ends.
