How to Motivate Employees for New Technology
By:Tamara Price

Change is mandatory when it comes to technology. Keeping up with the consumer's wants and needs is important to any type of company and can be done quickly with technology. Although some employees enjoy the challenge of working with new software and devices, there are some that would rather not. Getting these types of employees on board can be hard at first. Once they are aware of the benefits of technology enhancements they will never want to go back to the old methods of operating.

Explain to the employees the bonuses of the technology. Technology can definitely make life easier which some employees may not be aware of this. Give them specific ways on how it can impact their job or lives. For example, will they be able to gain easier access to emails. If it makes them more efficient at their job explain that as well. Will they get the opportunity to work from home? You have to give good reasons why they would want to use this technology.

Provide the employees with concrete evidence. Employees that are visual love to see how implementing change can affect the way they work. Give a presentation on the new technology enhancements. Show your employees how it works and why they will want to use it. If employees can first see how it works, they can probably get a better understanding of using it.

Give examples of others using this technology. Providing your employees with evidence of how other organizations have benefited from using this technology can be positive. By employees seeing how successful their competitors are because of the changes they have made will make them want to use it even more.

Offer incentives to employees. Being rewarded for a implementing a change is often a motivating driver. Employees love to be recognized for doing a good job. A simple verbal praise or other type of reward will encourage an employee to continue using the new technology.

Implement technology change has a required goal. Most companies require employees to have goals on their Performance Appraisal Evaluation. Use this as one the goal employees would need to complete for a department or personal goal. Employees should always have both. Completing the goal can be a determining factor for the amount of bonus they will receive if this is given in your company.

Create work teams. Some employees are uncomfortable using new technology. By creating small work teams, employees can ask their teammates questions about any issues they may have. The employee may be comfortable working with a team member than management.
