Motivation Tips

How to Motivate Your Spouse to Find a Job
By:braniac

In this economy many people are out of a job. This can make many people feel worthless and depressed. As a spouse it is your job to keep your husband or wife motivated while they are looking for a job.

The first step is to give them time. It is estimated to take up to eight or nine months to find a new job at the moment. So when they find out they are laid of your first instinct may be to push for them to get on making a new resume and start sending it out. But the truth is they may need time to grieve the loss of the job. I would say put a two week minimum on that time. They are thinking about it every day and don't need nagging they need support.

After the two weeks are up start a positive conversation. They may not be able to work in the same field again so this is the time you may ask if they would like to pursue another field. If you make enough money and have enough saved they may think about going back to school or starting at the bottom of another career. Just be supportive and open minded. encourage their new ideas.

If a new career is not what they desire and can get a job in the field they were let go from them support them in the search. It will take time and a positive less desperate attitude will help. So in the mean time cut down the expenses you can and focus any extra time on helping them get the job.

Keep positive thoughts and be excepting to change. Your spouse may have to take a job with bad hours and less pay for the moment. Do not let this affect your marriage. This is only a small piece of time.
