10 Universal Laws About Life's Toughest Times
By:Clare Josa

When life gets tough, it can be tempting to turn and run. But that's not really a choice we have. So here are 10 Universal Laws about the tough times in life, to inspire you to keep going and feel happier.

"This, too, will pass." - Dalai Lama This universal truth has kept me going through many a rock-bottom. And it's always been right. You always come out the other side.
Worrying doesn't work Worrying is a great way of creating a future you don't really want. Worrying rarely finds solutions...
We never experience anything we can't handle. Whether or not you think you're strong enough, right now, you are strong enough and you will get through this.
Experience is a hard teacher... "Experience is a hard teacher, because she gives the test first and the lessons afterwards." - Verson Sanders Law. The great thing is, though, as long as you pick up the lesson, you never have to repeat the test.
Resist your inner drama queen "Some of the terrible things that happened to me actually occurred." - Mark Twain Time to tell a new story?
We always have a choice We might not be able to choose what's happening, but we can always choose how we react.
What do you expect? If we expect the worst, then the best can't get a look-in.
Getting specific shrinks the problem. It's at least 10 times bigger in your head than outside. Get specific about what the problem is - and resist the urge to generalise or blow it up into something enormous. More than likely, it isn't.
Inner peace can help us feel happier. Having a sense of inner peace can help us feel happier, whatever is going on around us. Regular deep relaxation and meditation is a great help on this. You don't have to turn yourself into a pretzel and chant in Sanskrit. Just sit comfortably and focus on your breathing for 5 minutes, allowing your mind to become still.
You can't change others... No, really, you can't change others. But you can change yourself. And - whatever they might tell you - no one else can change your life for you.

The real secret with these 10 Universal Laws isn't about the ones that resonate with you. It's about the ones that provoke you into disagreement or even anger. If any fall into that category, then they're worth a deeper look in the mirror. They might unlock the strategy that would help you most at this time.

If you're on your happiness journey and would like some happiness quick fixes, there are great, easy techniques you can apply right now, to start feeling happier in less than 5 minutes.
