Motivation Tips

Continued Higher Self-Esteem For Those Who Already Have High Self-Esteem
By:Liv Miyagawa

Self-esteem is like vitamins. Even though you have a high level of vitamins in your body today, it doesn't mean that you will always continue to have it if you stop taking in new vitamins. You need to eat new vitamins every day otherwise you will run out of stock. In the same way, you need to continue to add to your self-esteem every day. If not, it will get lower and lower.

If you have a high self-esteem right now and have had it for some time, then you must be doing something to feed your self-esteem even though you may not be aware of it. For example, you may have a friend who makes you feel really good. Talking to him/her will then be like taking a self-esteem vitamin for you. Similarly, you may be reading books that make you feel good about yourself and that motivate you to be the kind of person that you want to be.

If you have a high self-esteem but want to not just rely on chance for keeping it up, you may want to consciously add some self-esteem exercises into your life. Here are five examples of what you could do:

1.Write a self-esteem diary. Every night before you go to sleep, write done some of the good things that you did during the day, what you are grateful for and what you want the day after to look like. This will remind you of looking at the bright sides of yourself and your life.
2.Schedule time for yourself. If you don't schedule to take some time for yourself into your calender, it is easy to skip taking that time that you need to reconnect with yourself and give yourself proper care. Schedule your self-time and make it happen.
3.Take good care of your health. That it is important to take care of your health is probably obvious to you, but you may not be aware of that it is also important for your self-esteem. When you take proper care of yourself, you are showing yourself that you are important.
4.Celebrate your successes. Whenever you do something good or something good happens to you - celebrate! By celebrating yourself you keep your eyes on what is positive and you show yourself that you are worthy of the attention that the celebration gives you.
5.Spread compliments around you. The more compliments that you give other people, the more compliments you will get back. It's good to start investing in compliments in this way, because there might come a time when you will need them.
