Confidence: Take Responsibility Instead of Blaming Others
By:Shaz Mkenzy

Contrary to what some people think, confidence is something that can easily be achieved. It generally involves conditioning your mind to believe in yourself and in your abilities. It also involves steering clear of what is known as the "blame mindset".

If you look around you, you would probably see several people who have the "blame mindset". These people would be the ones who constantly whine and blame other people for the misfortunes and tragedies in their lives, instead of taking full responsibility for their actions. They could be your relatives, your friends or even yourself. Although it is true that we all come across some unfortunate events every now and then in life, a large percentage of our failures are usually caused by our own selves. Here are some of the ways on how you can be more confident through forgetting the blame mindset.

1. First, you need to understand that you are in control of everything that happens to you. This means that everything that you are experiencing and everything that you have been able to achieve as well as those that you have been unable to achieve are a result of your decisions and your actions. By understanding this, you would be encouraged to rethink your decisions and be careful in your actions so that you would be able to get desirable results from everything that you do.

2. Avoid being around people who have a tendency to whine about how their lives have turned out to be and blame the people around them for the misfortunes that they have. Being around such people could influence the way you think and react about your own life, possibly lowering your confidence level. Try to be with people who have a more positive outlook in life and chances are, their positivity would rub off on you, making you feel good about yourself and the decisions you make.

3. Keep in mind that blaming others is never healthy. If you want to become successful in life, you need to get rid of your blame mindset. Blaming can limit the choices you have and in turn, the results that you can achieve. You would never see entrepreneurs, business leaders and even plain individuals who are successful in the field they are hanging around and making excuses or blaming the people around them. Instead, they take full responsibility and do everything that they can to change whatever it is that are undesirable for them. They know that they if there was anyone who could make a difference and pull them out of their unfortunate position, it would be them and not anybody else. This is exactly what your mindset should be as well.

4. You can also do an exercise known as "Parrot on Your Shoulder", which allows you to shift your point of view to a third person and become more objective about your actions and behavior.
