What You Give Out You Get Back

My mum cuts articles out of the newspaper for my brother and I and gives us quite a stack of reading most weeks. She is, as my brother says "spot on"; she knows exactly what will be of interest to us and she saves both of us trawling through papers in search of what is relevant. She does, however, also include items which she thinks we should be aware of.

The latter items tend to focus upon the community in terms of what is wrong in the world today. I don't think my mum feels differently from the majority of those of her generation (or younger). You hear phrases such as "what is the world coming to?" or "your father always said that this would happen". These articles centre around how the National Health Service in the UK just cannot survive for much longer or how a single mum who has five children costs the British tax payer £7,000 every month. You get the picture.

I have to admit that I don't like to read these articles. I have this feeling that I don't want to know and this is because I feel helpless. What can I do to make it any better? I also have a sense that the more thought energy you put into how "bad" things are, the worse they will become. I prefer to distract myself and try to focus on things that I can help with, and try to emit thought energy which has a "feel good" factor.

I know the "system" in the UK could be said to encourage a lot of people to think that they are entitled to something for nothing. There are many lessons taught upon "how to play the system". There are people who claim single person benefits when they are not single, or assistance for children who are not living with them, or who try to "kid" the system into providing them with a council house which they should not really be entitled to. But, I also have a firm belief that what goes around comes around.

If you take from someone else, you will be taken from too. If you claim benefits which you do not really need and in effect take from others who are more in need than you, then a similar thing will happen to you at some time in the future. It might not happen next week or even next year, but sometime those "misdeeds" will come home to roost. I do believe in Karma and this perhaps is why I do attempt to ignore those articles which get brought to my attention on a weekly basis.

My mum gets completely infuriated by them. How does this help? All I see is her getting upset and anxious. To me that is adding more negative energy to something unnecessarily. I refuse (on the majority of occasions) to be drawn in to this bad feeling. I, whether rightly or wrongly, believe that my energy is better spent on "trusting in karma" and focusing upon things which feel good and positive in life.

Every thought you have has energy. If you want the world to be a better place, then you need to focus upon thoughts which leave you with a "feel good" sensation and not upon ones which leave you feeling upset.
