Power of Your Words
By:Katheryn Hoban

Your words have great impact so chose them wisely. Too many times people use the words that they heard someone repeat and they believe that everyone says it, but it is not true. Also some words have been more established because of constant overuse. Like 'guys' even when you are speaking to a whole group of women. Or like 'he' for the pronoun for everyone. I don't agree with that usage because it doesn't include everyone. Perhaps your choice of words can transform the current language. You begin to make people aware of how impactful their words are and that words can include and extend compassion or disregard, or exclude a person or group. Many times you will have to explain your choice of words to close associates or acquaintances to help them understand your choice and you have to stand firm even if they might mock you or kid with you about it. Change in language comes slowly. The Spanish Language is filled with the masculine gender. The word breast, which can only belong to a female, in Spanish, is indicated by a masculine pronoun. Heart in Spanish is also masculine. Angel is also a masculine noun.

It is important to be very conscious of the words that you are choosing and using. Even if everyone around you is not. Especially words that are said out loud have a strong vibrational energy. If you begin speaking out loud with force and conviction you are transforming the energy fields all around you and even in other parts of the world. You can literally transform the energy of water, the air, the cities, people, you can transform hatred into love, you can transform a bad situation, you can transform yourself, and you can begin transforming whole regions of the world.

The power of your words is great enough that Angels will move on your behalf. It is great enough that the universe begins to respond and the course of the world can make a drastic shift of consciousness. That is how great the power and the vibrations of words can be. Shifts of consciousness or transformations of places and people do not happen overnight but subtly there is a shift that is occurring. Remember too that people speak unconsciously all the time, of course because they also live unconsciously too. They are lazy to make change or they are ignorant about the power of their words. People sometimes do need to be educated, about the words and made aware of the words that they are speaking out. They don't even realize everything that they are saying. Habits of words are easy to fall back into. Even I catch myself saying something unconsciously.

There was a day that I used a phrase that I had heard so many times on the TV, radio, and by the people around me. I said to someone, "Don't be an Indian Giver." But then on that day for the first time, I really heard myself. I stopped to think about the words and what they really meant. I suddenly realized the root of the words and just how racist they were. They originated with someone's perception of the Native Americans. What was implied with the words is that because they are (Indians or Native Americans) that they don't have a good way of giving, and if they give you something, they will just take it back because they are greedy and they can't be trusted. I was suddenly appalled. I made a conscious effort on that day never to use those words again. About a week after my self-awareness, I heard a co-worker say these same words. I gently told her how racist they were and how the root probably originated. I hope I changed her perception and use of racist words too. Until you become aware of your words and words of others you will not be aware of exclusions, racist comments, derogatory remarks, or judgment words that condemn. Low-level derogatory words have become part of a lot of people's everyday language. It still doesn't make it right to use these. They are ugly, hate filled words. You have to become aware of words that you using against yourself, or how they stop you or limit you. Like the words; 'I can't.' Or 'I'm so stupid.' 'I'll never amount to much.' 'I can't do anything right.'

The life that you have right now can be contributed to what you have been saying and repeating over and over.
