Motivation Tips

Harnessing Motivational Power For Maximum Achievement
By:Bruck Shapiro

Motivation is such a powerful factor in goal attainment. Its presence virtually guarantees success and its absence certain failure in any pursuit whatsoever. Time an again we see ambitious plans, enthusiastic folks, and tremendous skill all combining to attain a certain purpose but failing because of no or insufficient motivation.

If there ever was an ironclad guarantee that we'll attain any and all of our goals and visions we set for ourselves or dream about, it's this: that our motivation remains strong throughout our journey to realization.

Frankly, as humans it is in our natures to experience highs and lows. There's so much turbulence and uncertainty in life that it is virtually impossible to remain intensely motivated for long periods. Try as we may, we always discover that due to a plethora of factors both internal and external, we always experience marvelous highs and depressive lows. Sometimes the lows can be so low that some of us virtually give up on any projects we've embarked on.

The question then is: what do I do when my motivation levels drop? What happens when it seems the entire world is crashing down my shoulders and it's bitterly hard to muster even a single thread boldness, confidence or eagerness to prosecute my most cherished goals?

First, go back to your goals, your dreams or visions. Allow yourself to experience the freshness, the stimulation you experienced at first when you thought about your dream. Allow yourself to become captured by the first emotions you experienced, the initial thrill, and the utter excitement of your goal.

When our goals and dreams fail to excite us as at the first, usually with the passage of time, our motivation levels drop and our performance level plummets. At this point, we need to return to the big picture. Intensely visualizing the pleasures and benefits to be enjoyed as well as the pains and embarrassments to be avoided with the attainment of our goals guarantees a release of fresh latent power that replenishes and reinforces our motivation and galvanizes us to action.

Sometimes the situation can and does become so bleak that we may not be able to bring our internal powers of visualization and concentration to a focus. The world around seems so dark and our situation so helpless. At this point, we usually need externally help. This is where external sources of motivation come in. Books, CDs tapes and related material offer us the opportunity to tap into the minds and experiences of successful folks.

Through their words and experiences hitherto blocked channels of creativity and energy become unstopped, fresh inspiration is imparted and our entire being is ignited ready aging to face any and every challenge. Sometimes only a new thought or new idea we discover from reading a book or listening to audios can set us on fire all over again.

Finally, turn to friends. Not just friends bur people with like passion and desire for goal attainment. Truth is, each of us have different levels of staying power. Some people can keep at a task longer than others. Some folks have even experienced very similar problem to ours and successfully weathered it. Look to these folks for reassurance and reinforcement. Sometimes only the narration of their personal experiences can reinforce and stimulate your own resolve.

Motivation is so essential. Hold onto it till you cross over to the other side.
