Why Giving Chance A Chance Means Taking Risks
By:Priscilla F. Parham

On any given day each of us takes a risk. It can be something small but it can also be something that changes our lives. It can be as simple as deciding to take a different route to work or it could be something very different such as taking an adventure vacation by yourself.

Each time we take a risk there is always change. There can only be change when we walk out of our comfort zone and move forward at any given point in time. If you want change in your life then you must know that some of it will be left up to chance. Chance is that situation that you are not anticipating, but change is the fluid that keeps life flowing and expanding.

Many people believe in games of chance and many have done very well with them. As an example we always find people who play the lottery or go to the casinos and win money. We marvel at some of them because they win the larger pots. We don't think this is possible for ourselves so we don't think about it too closely.

This is just one type of chance. Sometimes people "take a chance" on love. They get the confidence with another person and they put time and energy into cultivating a relationship. This is another kind of chance.

When we think about chance and risk though, we have a tendency to back away from it and worry. We want to move our lives forward but we don't want to take a chance because - you fill in the blank. Generally when we do not want to take chances it is because we are stuck living in the past.

A chance is something that we need to take whenever we want to advance life forward. This gives us a fresh perspective. Taking a chance also helps us see what the universe has in store for us and it develops in what ever way that we truly intend. Our intentions being our inner dialog which is not always the same as what we verbalize to others.

Most humans are clinging to the past or trying desperately to get to the future. They are not involved with the present and this is where they need to be if they want more joy. The past or the future is so attractive because it is the way that the ego keeps us motivated to be doubtful of our current actions.

Everyone can think of a time when they were too afraid to take a chance or second guessed themselves and they found out later that they missed out on an opportunity that would have been good for them. This is important to know and to remember.

The next time you are thinking about giving chance a chance, consider meditation or quiet reflection on the idea for a short time and see what options come up for you.

After your meditation, take whatever steps you are nudged to do. Let go of the past and the future and just BE HERE NOW. Stay with this and know you are safe. Taking chances will keep you in the flow of life.
