Big Dreams Equal Big Successes
By:Shannon Tani

When I was a little girl, my mom took me to see The Nutcracker. Well, when I got home from that, I was sure I was going to be a ballerina. Never mind that I was a little chubby and had never taken a ballet lesson in my life. I'd put on a pink tulle neglige of my mom's and practice doing my ballet leaps.

At other times in my life I've wanted to be a doctor, movie star, and an astrophysicist. I always liked to dream big.

Dreaming big is something that comes naturally to small children. But as we grow up, our ability to shoot for the stars seems to get stuck in this thing we call reality.

What a shame.

While children think in terms like "I want..." or "I can...", adults start saying things like "I could never..." or "I shouldn't..."

It's a mindset like this that is holding most people back. The truth is that there are many things that you can do. You just have to try. And you have to dream big to get there.

An important first step is to start writing our dreams down. This helps us to remember them. Once they are written, it becomes easier to break it down into smaller steps. Smaller steps are easier to accomplish, but will bring you closer to reaching your goal.

The next thing you need to do is to recognize your negative thoughts. Negative thoughts permeate our beings and prevent us from realizing our true potential. Every time you say to yourself "I'll never be able to afford..." or "There's no way I could ever do...", you limit yourself.

If you catch yourself thinking a negative thought, immediately force yourself to think the opposite. You can afford it. You could do it.

All successes start with a big dream. Then you must break down that dream into smaller steps, smaller goals. Most importantly, you must then take action.

When you repeat these simple steps, you will find that you become more successful than you ever thought possible. It all starts with a big dream.

My husband and I dreamed big. We set a goal of saving enough money to not work while we focused on creating our dreams. This is our reality. Learn how it can be your reality too
