Caring for Your Spirit
When we care for ourselves, we improve the quality of our lives and the lives of all those with whom we interact. If you follow these 7 steps, you will achieve a healthier and happier spirit and you will attract everything you have always wanted to your life.
Day One:
Vow to eliminate all negative self-talk. Whenever you hear a voice inside your head telling you something negative about yourself, ask yourself if you would ever say that to a child. If the answer is no, consider it unacceptable for you as well. Decide you are going to be kind to yourself. Give yourself permission to make mistakes and then allow yourself to learn from them. There is power in your words. Take care in how you choose them.
Day Two:
What is the state of your spirit? How would you like it to be? What steps are you willing to take to care for it? Think about your goals as they related to your spirituality and create a plan for 3months, 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years. Where would you like to be spiritually and what are the action steps you need to take to get there?
Day Three:
Surround yourself with people who energize you and lift your spirit. It is not realistic to wake up one day and decide you are going to eliminate all of the people who you feel harm your spirit in some way; however, it is realistic to avoid them for today.
Make a concerted effort to stay away from the energy drainers and the negative influences in your life. When you climb into bed, notice how different you feel and how much more calm you are. Negative people tax us in ways we don't even realize. Slowly take the steps necessary to remove what relationships you can and for those you can’t, do your part to infuse them with greater energy.
Day Four:
Make the care of your spirit a priority. If you think you do not have time to worry about yourself, you underestimate the power of feeling at peace and feeling good. You can only care for others to the extent that you can care for yourself. Give yourself your undivided attention every single day. Ask yourself what you need and do what you have to in order to get it. When you take care of yourself first, you will have the energy you need to care for others. Your sense of well being will attract others to you and you will have more chances to generate good things in your life.
Day Five:
Invest in your own learning, growth and development. Pick up a long forgotten hobby, sign up for a class, or register for a race. Play more and live fabulously. You have an obligation to give your very best of who you are to this world. Do what makes you happy and then share it!
Day Six:
Always assume the best will come to you. Do not allow negative thoughts to enter into your mind. If you feel a negative thought creeping in, make a switch and stick with it. Train your mind to go the other way. If someone says something negative, do not validate it. Choose a different path and remember that you will get what you put your focus on. Make it positive.
Day Seven:
Commit to making these practices a habit for at least the next 6 weeks. If you want to change, you must commit to it. Remember, we are getting exactly what we are committed to getting.
