Technique #1: Talk positively to yourself
Every one of us has a never-ending monologue running inside our heads, although we may not realize it. Every single input to the brain - sights, smells, words spoken by someone, even other thoughts that occur to us - can potentially trigger new monologues within us.
Unfortunately for most of us, our inner talk is filled with junk absorbed from television, newspapers, advertisements and inane conversations we happen to hear.
These negative thoughts drain us of energy and result in low levels of self-esteem and self-confidence. By controlling our actions, such thoughts create conditions in our lives that are far from desirable. And then we wonder what went wrong!
You can and should take control of your inner dialogue. You must consciously talk to yourself in a positive manner and as often as possible.
For instance, say to yourself, "I like myself. I am filled with confidence and positive energy." Repeat that thought many times each day.
In fact, here's an experiment you should try out. Go look at yourself in the mirror and repeat the thought in the last paragraph fifty times. By the end of it, you will automatically feel better about yourself!
Technique #2: Always look and be your best
You will be amazed at how much more self-confident you feel when you are dressed in your best clothes and are well groomed. And if you are in a clean, attractive environment, it adds to your good feelings.
So even if it is the weekend put on good clothes and put a smile on your face. Make sure you drive a clean car and keep your house clean. You will notice the difference immediately, no question about it.
Get into the habit of silently giving thanks for everything you have - your health, your looks, the money you have, your family and friends. The attitude of gratitude does wonders for your self-esteem and how you feel about yourself.
Technique #3: Adopt the right posture
The physical affects the mental and vice versa. How you stand and sit has a direct connection with how you feel. Not only that, your posture sends out positive or negative messages to those around you and they in turn, treat you accordingly.
So get rid of that slouch and sit and stand straight. Put a smile on your face. You will find that your self-confidence soars immediately.
Try out these three techniques on a daily basis. And change your life for the better now and in the years to come.
