Recently, I was watching a bird outside the office door. He seemed to be sniffing for food. He would sniff then peck and move on and repeat the process. Finally, he flew away because I believe he had determined there was nothing good for him on the grounds. He moved one. He made a decision and simply flew away. Now, I know that I am probably seeing something more complex than a bird’s mind could possibly phantom, but it made me think about us.

Do we spend far too much time sniffing out situations when it is clearly time to fly away? How many times have you stayed at a job you hated, or in a relationship that you hated simply unable to make the decision to fly away. You believe if I just try a little harder the situation will change or we believe to fly away would indicate that we had failed.

We all have been blessed with more sense than a bird, but sometimes we simply choose not to use it. Hence, the term bird brain.

I have been in that place where it so obvious to everyone around me that it is time to take flight, but I have chosen to prod on. Until finally I either became aware, exhausted or simply sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I finally make the decision to fly.

I encourage you to examine your life and make a choice to fly away or you can keep sniffing for something that is simply not there.
