Give Thanks
By:Lorri Livengood

In the deepest of the nights, in the brightness of the light; GIVE THANKS!!! In the good times, in the hard times, STOP, and remember to GIVE THANKS. For the breath we breathe, the times we have seen, GIVE THANKS. For the places you have been, and the times in your life you have TRIUMPH, give thanks.

Take a look at where you were, where you have come, and look ahead to your future. Remember those things in life that were hard, remember how you came out of them, and remember how it has changed you in the process. If we allow bad times to mold us, we become much stronger in the end to take on new challenges for our future. Hold on, help is on the way. Remember, there always is a lifeline when trouble knocks at your door. There's a 911 call, people will respond as you call out to God for help.

Yes, life can be good. Consequently, life can be bad. There are mountain top experiences which leave us feeling like we're sailing through the air. On the other hand, there are those times in our lives that leave us feeling despair, hopelessness, and desperation like someone has taken our lives and run over them like road kill.

We would all like to live a prosperous life financially, socially, mentally, in health, and know our purpose and destiny in life. We would like to not ever have any speed bumps, earthquakes, turbulence, and even hurricanes that just take our everyday world and turn it upside down. But, we all know in this life, this just isn't the reality. But, in all things, GIVE THANKS. For these times only last for a moment, and then there is a shift in the pattern. Sunny days will shine again.

Life is definitely like a roller coaster ride. Many curves, climbing upscale, many downhill roller thrills, and many hold on for your life experiences. Lets face it, when the ride is over, it definitely was the ride of your life. Everyone feeling many different experiences. Loving it, hating it, going again, to never getting on again. In this ride for life, there are no choices. We have to get on, hold on, and try to enjoy it every curve, bend, dip, climb, and downhill slide all the way. Our attitude makes all the difference. When we exit this ride of life, we can have joy complete or complete misery. Why waste precious time living in the sour-patch field with the sour-patch kids.

Lift up your chin, GIVE THANKS, remember the good in your life and try not to focus on the bad. Remember the rain and storms of life only last for a moment. Afterwards, the sun shines, the rainbow appears, and things that you hoped and dreamed for eventually shine their face upon you like the rays of the sun. Hold on, the weather changes. Don't pack up your bags and quit. Things in your life will begin to shift for the better; so, GIVE THANKS.

Keep your eyes upon the finish line. Look ahead. Great times are coming again if your in a time or season of your life that just seems like the boat is going to tip over. If your in that ecstatic place in your life, enjoy it because you know that eventually rain comes again. This is the place of retreat, renewal, and refreshing. Once the rain comes, you will want to look back and remember this time when life was in the palm of your hands. It keeps your eyes off your situation and looking to the future for more sunny days.

In this Thanksgiving season, do something you have never done before. Look outside your box, and try to be a blessing to someone else. Maybe, it's just by your attitude extending a kind expression to another individual. Do something different. They say, if your doing the same thing over and over and getting the same results, change it up. Get out of your box, get into someone else's shoes, and smile the whole way to the bank. Somewhere along the line, your spirits will light up brighter than a Christmas Tree.

In all of this, I just wanted to say "HAPPY THANKSGIVING." May God's face shine upon you like the dawning of a new day, may He make his presence known to you, and may you know the reason and purpose of your life that you may run to the finish line feeling like you have accomplished everything in the world that you were designed to do. May you be blessed in all your ways.
