The Secret Forgot to Mention The Difference Between Dreaming and Wishing
By:Dan Nichols

As a business coach I have to play real close attention to what my clients say during our meetings. One thing I rarely let slip is the use of the word "wishing". Occasionally people will ask me why wishing is so bad and usually it is because they don't see the distinction between dreaming and wishing.

Dreaming is great as we recognize it is an idea that may or may not materialize. Dreaming is a tool that helps us to build our vision or in some cases it is used simply to provide some escape. Dreaming allows us to exercise the who, what, when, where, why and how. Dreaming is an ingredient in the recipe of "The Secret". Dreaming keeps our our being alive and our hope intact.

The word wish is unlike dreaming because it shuts down the "how". Wishing removes the power of self and waits for something to just happen. When we wish, we leave it up to the genie and a magical lantern. Wishing waits for the magical wish granter as we forget the magic is in us not outside of us. Shutting down the how is a critical mistake in ones journey to fulfillment and success in a life. Shutting down the how not only cripples our journey but it weakens our brain cells and that is no secret.

So as it is with many things in life learn to work with what you do have and what is possible. Be pulled forward by the future not held back by the past. Employ psychology and self-talk that advances your game not psychology that stagnates you.
