Suggestions To Improve Your Self Esteem

Self esteem plays an important role in our life. People with low self esteem seldom make friends, and share a very bitter relationships with family members and peers at the work place. A positive self esteem is, therefore, very essential to change our perspective of life, to change the way we deal with things in our everyday life and to succeed in life.

Here are a few suggestions to improve your self esteem.

1. Do not be complacent and restrain your self from learning new skills and performing new things. Explore your inner talent by trying your hand at new things every now and then because this will give you immense satisfaction. The end result of your efforts will make you feel proud and boost your confidence and self esteem. For example, if your interest has drawn you towards pottery and you have managed to make a vase then you will be proud of this vase irrespective of the flaws and imperfections in it.

2. There are certain things that we can change about ourselves and a lot of other things that we cannot change although we do not like them at all. We must learn to be realistic about our abilities and our assets. Both over estimation and under estimation of ourselves can harm our self esteem. Appreciate what you have and learn to use these assets instead of brooding over what you do not have or what you cannot perform.

3. Learn to love and defend yourself. Take pride in all your actions and decisions. You are the best friend of your own self and you yourself can provide the best support that you need at times of crisis.

4. Learn to love others and volunteer to help and assist them in what ever small way you can. The satisfaction derived from helping others can greatly boost your self esteem and feeling of self worth.
