Change Is Coming!
By:Yvonne Finn

Actually, change is gone, change is here and change is coming. We cannot live without change. Yesterday was a change from the day before; today is a change from yesterday and tomorrow will be change from today. There has never been another Tuesday like this Tuesday, not for me and not for you.

The routine of your daily events may not seem to be changing; but you are! To state the obvious, you and I and everyone else today is one day older and sometimes wiser.

But even more profound is our attitude and reaction to change. Whether we initiate change or it is thrust upon us: Change will change us.

How do you view the changes that come your way? Do you see change, whether good or bad, as a growth opportunity?

All things happen for a reason: Far from being an empty bromide, the above statement is being borne out by countless real life stories. Individuals on Television, in magazine articles and biographies recount life- changing events that were predicated solely on how they viewed and handled change.

Even if the change you are experiencing is not one of your choosing and is undesirable and unpleasant, don't allow it to build thoughts of bitterness and resentment in your mind. This is not an easy mindset to avoid or overcome, but it is an essential attitude shift if we are to glean life's lessons as they present themselves. I have read and believe it is true that our conscious mind cannot hold more than one thought at any given time. If this is true and we allow bitterness, resentment or any other limiting emotion to dominate our thinking, we will surely miss the other more elevating and uplifting possibilities that are in almost all life events.

Two of my favorite quotes on change come from Anais Nin:

We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, and constellations. And: Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.

While death can be considered to be a kind of change, we are talking here of life. Lets see change as this quote by Henri Bergson bid us: To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly.
