New Mexico is an enchanting land of diverse culture, beautiful landscapes, famous museums and art galleries. The important cities are Santa Fe and Taos in North Central region and Albuquerque in Central region. There are about one hundred lakes and rivers, 13 national monuments and parks and 2 state parks. The state also has 12 popular ski arenas. These attractions naturally make it a popular tourist destination.
New Mexico owes much of its fame to the art and culture. It ranks after Los Angeles and New_York, as the art market in U.S. The state, with its numerous tribes, offers a unique opportunity to get exposed to the unique tribal culture. Tourism accounts for a major source of the revenue of the state. The economy of the state is primarily based on tourism. However, the low cost of living has made the state an economically viable option for businessmen. There is a visible rise in the proportion of business investments made in the area and the consequent influx of people. This is coupled with the presence of some of the important centers of learning, such as The University Of New Mexico. New Mexico, with its unique cultural fabric and the fast paced economic development program has proved itself to be a progressive state of the U.S.
