Like it or not this is the way many societies/businesses,families/individuals behave, and I feel it is a warning to teachers and students of what not to do or be. For all our fine thoughts and words for democracy the world is still very feudal, especially the work place. Can we escape it? Sometimes people prefer to be self-employed to avoid the tyrany, the feudalism of bosses. Sometimes people choose it to BE the boss.[This reminds me of another from a Bogart movie: "I'd sooner rule in Hell than serve in Heaven."] Is this in our makeup, our simian heritage? I sometimes say "I prefer dogs to monkeys". Do you see why? Please do not over-protect children from the nasty truths of the world. They grow up green and vulnerable. I did.
